Home How it works

What happens to your car.

Most shops will tell you it takes three days. Very few will tell you what happens in them. This is the whole order of operations, including the boring half that decides whether your wrap still looks right in five years.

Book a look Design your wrap first

Day 1 prep and strip Day 2 fitting Day 3 post-heat, cure, hand back Courtesy car for all of it

The quote takes ten minutes.

Bring the car, or send photos if that is easier. Either way you get a fixed number, not a range.

  1. Ten minutes, no appointment needed

    We look at the car

We walk it with you and photograph anything already there. A scuff on the bumper, a chip on the wing, a panel that has clearly been painted before. Not to catch you out; so that neither of us is guessing later about what was ours.

    • Panels measured and counted, so the film quantity is a fact rather than an estimate
    • Existing damage photographed and attached to the job
    • Anything that will show through the film flagged before you commit
    • A fixed price, in writing, that does not move unless you change the job
  2. When you say go

We book the bay and the courtesy car together

They are one booking, not two, and the courtesy car costs nothing. It is insured, fuelled and outside when you arrive.

The half nobody photographs.

Adhesive does not stick to dirt. It sticks to whatever is on top of your paint, and if that is brake dust, tar or road film, then that is what it lets go of eighteen months later. So the car gets stripped back properly first, on every job, included in the price.

  1. Two-bucket washpH-neutral shampoo, grit guards, wheels and arches first so nothing gets dragged back up the paint.
  2. Iron and tar removala fallout remover for the embedded brake dust, then a solvent for tar. This is what turns the run-off purple and it comes off every car, including new ones.
  3. Clay bar, panel by panelrun by hand with lubricant until the paint is glass-smooth. Any bump you can still feel through a plastic bag is a bump the film will telegraph forever.
  4. Solvent wipea final isopropyl pass so nothing is left for the adhesive to sit on top of.
  5. Strip and open upbadges, handles, mirror caps, lamps and trim removed, panel gaps opened, every edge cleaned back so film can be tucked behind rather than cut at.

On a whole car this is most of a day. It is also the single biggest difference between a wrap that lasts five years and one that lifts in one.

Clear film being squeegeed down onto a prepared front end
Film only goes on once the panel underneath is clean enough to eat off. Everything before this point is the reason the warranty is not a gamble.

Fitting, by hand, one panel at a time.

  1. First thing

Plot the pattern to your car

Panels are cut from a pattern for your exact year, model and trim, not a generic shape trimmed to fit on the car. Where a pattern does not exist. An older car, an unusual spec. We bulk-fit and hand-trim on a paint-safe edge, never a blade against your bodywork.

  2. The long part

    Lay, heat, work, tuck

Film is floated onto a slip solution, squeegeed out from the centre so the solution and the air have somewhere to go, then heated and worked into every crease and recess. Edges are wrapped behind the panel so no seam ends up on a face you would ever look at.

    • Door handles, mirrors and lamps come off rather than getting cut around
    • Recesses and body lines are post-heated as they go, not at the end
    • Relief cuts, where a shape needs one, land where they cannot be seen
  3. Before we stop

    Refit and inspect under lights

Everything that came off goes back on, then the whole car goes under inspection lighting. Anything that is not right gets pulled and redone the same day, while the film is still cheap and the clock is ours.

Post-heat, cure, and the handover.

  1. Morning

    Post-heat every edge

Vinyl has a memory. Stretch it around a mirror or into a bumper recess and it will spend the next year trying to go back to flat unless the adhesive is heated past its set point. Post-heating is quick, dull and skipped constantly. It is the most common reason film lifts at corners.

  2. Twenty-four hours

    Cure indoors

The car sits inside overnight while the adhesive finishes flowing out. It does not get washed, driven through rain or parked in a car park in that window, because that is when marks set in permanently.

  3. When you arrive

Walk it with us, then take the keys

We go round the car together under the lights. You get the aftercare on paper, the film batch details, and the warranty registered against your plate, so if something happens in three years you do not have to find a receipt.

    • Leave it a week before the first wash
    • Pressure washer stays about a foot and a half back, never square-on to an edge
    • Anything odd in the first fortnight, ring us. Most of it is normal, and the rest is ours

The courtesy car is not an upsell.

Three days without a car is the reason people put this off for a year. So there is one waiting for you, at no cost, on any job that keeps yours overnight. Tell us when you book and it will be outside with the keys in it.

  • No daily ratenot discounted. Free
  • Yours for the jobhowever long it takes
  • Fully insuredyou are covered to drive it
  • Fuelledbring it back as you found it

Things people ask at drop-off.

Can I watch?

Yes, and people do. Ask and we will show you the panel we are on. We would rather you saw the prep than took our word for it.

What if you find something under the trim?

We stop and call you. Filler, a previous respray that is lifting, or rust behind a badge all change what film will do, and none of them are things to discover after the invoice. Nothing gets covered up without you knowing about it.

Will you wrap over a bad panel if I ask?

Over a scratch or a stone chip, yes. Film hides small marks well. Over flaking clear coat or lifting paint, no. The adhesive will take the loose paint with it when it comes off, and we are not doing that to your car or putting our warranty on it.

Can I drop off the night before?

Yes. There is a key box and the car sits inside. It means we start on prep at eight rather than half nine, which sometimes takes a day off the job.

Do you need it that long for a roof or mirrors?

No. Accents and chrome delete are usually in and out the same day, and the prep is proportionally shorter because there is less of it. You can wait if you want. There is a kettle.

Ready when you are.

Bring the car for ten minutes, or send a photo and the model. Either way you get a fixed price and a date.
